The Lilypad Project has to be the most futuristic sustainable concept out there. The idea is to create a series of floating self-sufficient ocean-going eco-city islands. They would be fully sustainable, collecting their own water and producing a enough food for all on board. Each one would be able to house 50,000 residents and would support a great deal of biodiversity.
