10th Vision Council - Guardians of the Earth. 13- 20 of November, 2010. Chalmita, Mexico. Bioregional gathering for Earth Regeneration. www.consejodevisiones.org

The Vision Council or Consejo de Visiones is a multidisciplinary educational event focused on catalyzing social and environmental regeneration. It is a forum for the exchange of a broad spectrum of resources such as natural medicine, organic agriculture, permaculture, bioregionalism, consensus decision-making, alternative education, holistic health, spiritual traditions, shamanism, and sacred calendars among others.

The event is focused on creating a seven-day “Eco-Peace Village,” putting into practice values and ideas such as conscious collaboration, creativity, celebration of diversity, tolerance, social justice, earth regeneration and respect for all living beings.

This unique type of event has been taking place in different sites in Mexico and Latin America during the past 25 years. To date there have been 9 national and 8 regional gatherings in Mexico, as well as three international gatherings: the First Continental Bioregional Gathering in Meztitla, Tepoztlan, Mexico (1996), the “Call of the Condor” in Cuzco, Peru (2003) and the “Call of the Hummingbird” in Brazil (2005).

In this ocasion the gathering is being hosted by Nierika Project, www.nierka.info, an Ecovillage and Healing Centre two hours south of Mexico City. With many representatives from the Ecovillage and Permaculture and also indigenous leaders,  this event will bring together some of the most influential people in the alternative movement in Latin America today.

To close off a weeklong event there will be a Festival open to the general public with different ceremonies, music, dance and celebration as part of a giant offering to Mother Earth.  The film maker and Grammy winner Duncan Bridgeman of One Giant Leap y What About Me TV, www.whataboutme.tv will be there shooting part of his current project about Mexico and the emerging re-evolution of consciousness.

This event will be the launchpad for a caravan of buses and environmentalists traveling to the Klimate Forum in Cancun, the alternative response to the United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in Cancun, Mexico, December 1-10, 2010. www.klimaforum10.org.mx
