The main Music Stage of the festival. A unique stage will be built to house the performers. The very latest techniques in sustainable eco-design will be used, artists and designers from over the world will come together and spend many weeks constructing this spectacular alter to sustainability and music. Creative and interesting shade areas will also be constructed to help keep everyone cool and minimize sunburn.
This area will be the main reason people come to the Festival, uplifting music will keep everyone dancing through day and night, featuring high profile live musicians and dj’s. Attendees will come from all over the world to share time together on an odyssey in the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Our aim is to inspire creative solutions to the problems of diminishing resources, surrounding the audience with examples of eco-design structures built with local biodegradable materials allowing all to see that this ideology can look cool and functionally fit in to modern life. Some of the structures will be temporary, but some will be permanent. Annually as the festival grows more permanent structures will added. A serial show of modern contemporary design. Regulars to the festival will see a growth in concepts and solutions. As with all great art and architecture discussion and debate will follow.
In the global village you can find: GeoHaven, Global Stage, Art Sphere, Sun Garden, Artisan Market, Restaurants and Bars.
We will recreate a perfect village atmosphere, a space where all communities will feel relaxed and at home.
GeoHaven is the Brain of the festival, it’s a meeting house, conference centre, school, dance studio, art studio and cinema. It lies at the heart of Global Village. It’s the reason GeoParadise organizes festivals.
The presentations and workshops will adhere to this theme, presenting information and debate on climate change, global warming, culture and more. We will explore reasons and solutions. We will have translators to make sure all attending understand. This information is not only for the ticket buying attendees its for the indigenous cultures as well. It is important they know that we care and that together we can make change happen.
People new to GeoParadise come because of the big name musicians, but due to the initial two days of intense learning in this zone and the obvious importance of the Indigenous Conference, this area becomes the main focus for many of the attendees. Our aim is to send everyone home with an informed and refreshed view of our planet. We encourage participation on many levels and wish that everyone leaves knowing that it is their right to take control and look after their world.
There will be a range of activities held in this zone. Yoga and body movement classes, lectures on subjects ranging from culture, ecology, anthropology to socio-economics. There will be workshops on art, traditional crafts, meditation, music and more. Of course, we will have a Mayan elder to help us face the prophecy and guide us through this epic moment, with explanations and rituals.
All the representatives from the attending tribes will be asked to come and share their knowledge here, its form will be of their choosing, stories, theatre, dance, lectures. We will be there to assist making this a pleasurable experience for all. All the work here will be filmed, the footage will be released over the following year. Posted on the popular internet video sites (Vimeo, YouTube etc.) and linked back to our website allowing everyone who missed them a chance to see them in their own homes.
The Indigenous Conference will take place in GeoHaven. It will be the main focus of the festival. Indigenous communities of Central America will come together to hold lively and critical debate on the theme of “Our Roots In Mother Earth.” Invites will be sent to approximately 50 tribes asking that a representative group can come to the festival. A detailed explanation of the festival theme will be included with the invites.
A short list of 12 communities will be picked.
Outside of the Indigenous Conference we will ask that the communities commit to at least one workshop/talk/presentation in Geohaven.
Due to the importance of the conference the first 2 days of the festival will be free to the indigenous people of Central America.
We will ask each indigenous community attending the conference to bring examples of their local crafts to sell. The sale of their local goods, beyond making them money, is to further showcase their individual cultures. We´ll ask that 10% from the sale of their goods is donated to GeoParadise.
As part of our Leave Positive Trace program for the bioregion, this money will be used to help the local community to setup an NGO to heal and protect the Mother Earth. It will educate the community on relevant environmental issues, like combating climate change or how to deal with the rubbish that is washing up their shores, through seminars, workshops and meetings with fellow communities where they can share their experiences. Empowering the indigenous communities to collectively raise funds from the sale of their artisan goods to combat an issue forced upon them by the outside world.
The musical side of Global Village. The stage will be designed to dynamically represent the global village and its place in the festivals theme Our Roots In Mother Earth. As with all our structures only indigenous sustainable and bio-degradable materials will be used. More eclectic than the lotus stage, with its musical influences ranging throughout the planet. International and local musicians will be entertaining everyone with reggae, indie, dub, jazz, chill out and much more. The mood here will be relaxed throughout, with the lighting and decor emphasizing this.
There will be hammocks and shade so attendees can relax, and socialize.
