Holy shenanigans was this ever a great time. My whole experience taught me that if you wish for something to happen and are willing to keep trying then it can happen. To start I never thought that I would be able to make it to another country and help at a festival that I believed in... yet somehow the pieces fell into place.

The story of the festival can also be seen to work in this same way. Things happen and it appeared that everyone always hit the ground running, quick with a new direction. The involvement that we experienced with the local community was amazing. Beautiful people. During the day we worked on the stages and such but we still integrated with the community at the same time. They showed us how to open coconuts the best way and sharpened our machetes. And there was Betty and her family!!! What a great family. She open her home and cooked 3 meals a day for us and always had a smile to greet us with.

The building of the stages and surrounding pieces worked out in a laid back easy way. There was an overall plan and dream for how things were to look but nothing was set in stone. As volunteers arrived, each with their own ideas and expertise’s, they were all carpooled together. This allowed for everyone to feel that they were truly a part of the festival and help things to always move forward.
